Manufacturing plastic components for rail vehicles does not end with moulding or compression moulding. Before the parts are ready for installation on the customer’s production line, they often require additional assembly operations. To support these requirements, Promens Zlín has established a dedicated certified bonding area at its Zlín 2 production facility.
Why Bonding Matters in Rail Vehicle Manufacturing
Interior panels for trains and trams are not just standalone plastic mouldings. In many applications, they need to be equipped with seals, reinforcement elements and additional mounting components to ensure correct installation and reliable operation inside the vehicle.
For customers, these operations must be performed consistently, under controlled conditions and according to clearly defined standards. A properly executed bonding process directly influences the quality of the final component, assembly efficiency and long-term reliability in operation.

Controlled Bonding Process According to EN 17460:2022 – A2
Bonding processes for rail vehicle components must comply with the specific requirements of the rail industry and be performed by trained personnel in a properly prepared working environment.
That is why Promens Zlín established a dedicated certified bonding workstation at the Zlín 2 facility, where bonding operations are carried out in accordance with EN 17460:2022 – A2.
This standard is particularly important for applications where customers require a controlled, traceable and repeatable bonding process for components used in rail vehicles.

Assembly at the Certified Bonding Area
At the certified bonding area, interior panels are fully assembled and inspected before being delivered to the customer. The assembly process includes:
- bonding seals,
- bonding reinforcement elements,
- bonding mounting brackets,
- installation of additional assembly components,
- final inspection and verification of the completed component.

Customer Benefits: Fewer Operations on the Customer’s Production Line
By delivering components that are already assembled and inspected, Promens Zlín helps customers reduce the number of operations performed in their own production facilities. This approach simplifies the assembly process, reduces the risk of errors and supports more efficient production line planning.
The result is a complete solution that includes not only the plastic component itself but also the additional assembly processes required for its direct integration into rail vehicle production.

From Component Manufacturing to Sequenced Deliveries
The certified bonding workstation is part of Promens Zlín’s broader manufacturing capabilities. At one location, we combine plastic component production, surface finishing, assembly operations, quality inspection, packaging and logistics.
This integrated approach is especially valuable for projects where customers require reliable deliveries with precisely defined scope, quality standards and delivery sequence.
